More than a route: an experience on two wheels
The Route through the Sierra de Cádiz is one of the most spectacular experiences in southern Spain, a journey where mountain riding, wild landscapes, and historic white villages come together to create an unforgettable route. Secondary roads, endless curves, and natural viewpoints make this trip a true gem for those who truly enjoy the open road.
The itinerary passes through emblematic villages such as Grazalema, surrounded by mountains and unspoiled nature; Villaluenga del Rosario, the highest village in the province; and a, a benchmark of craftsmanship and a classic stop in the Sierra. The route continues towards Zahara de la Sierra, with its castle overlooking the reservoir, and Arcos de la Frontera, one of the natural gateways to the white villages.
Where the road becomes part of the landscape
One of the main highlights of the route is its iconic mountain passes. Especially noteworthy is Puerto de las Palomas, an impressive road that climbs the mountain linking curve after curve, with breathtaking views over the Zahara de la Sierra reservoir that are, quite simply, mind-blowing. A stretch that remains etched in the memory of any rider or true road enthusiast.
The route also includes Puerto del Boyar, one of the best-known mountain passes in the province, surrounded by forests and featuring a flowing, enjoyable layout, as well as Puerto de Galiz, narrower and more technical, which adds a wild and authentic touch to the journey.
Eating well is not a break — it’s part of the journey
In the Sierra de Cádiz, eating well is part of the journey. Every stop is an opportunity to sit down without rushing, share a table, and discover the local gastronomy as it deserves to be enjoyed. Mountain produce, traditional recipes, and authentic flavors accompany the route just like the curves and the landscapes.
It’s not just about refueling, but about experiencing the territory through the plate as well. Lunches in white villages, simple yet honest tables, and the pleasure of eating well after a great day on the road. Because on this route, enjoyment is not only about riding — it’s also about savoring the journey.
Our base: an authentic Andalusian cortijo
The accommodation for this route could be nothing less than part of the complete experience. We will stay in a magnificent Andalusian cortijo set in the heart of nature, just a few minutes from Arcos de la Frontera, designed to rest, share, and enjoy without rushing.
Surrounded by countryside and silence, the cortijo invites you to unwind after each day on the road. Its enormous swimming pool becomes the perfect meeting point at the end of the day: a refreshing dip, a drink in hand, and the sunset falling over the Sierra after dinner, which is enjoyed at the cortijo itself, without the need to go anywhere.
